A lighter load, a bit of a delay, and an apology to the universe

We woke up to reports of more snow in England and many canceled flights on British Airways. But we went ahead with plans to leave Colorado today, and finished packing and loading up my parents' car. We are one big suitcase lighter -- having decided to leave quite a bit (many kid toys, quite a bit of clothing, some books and more) in CO to make for easier travel. So despite going for the longest trip to date, we have the least amount of luggage for the five of us. I think that can only be a good thing (and if we're really stuck, we can have fun shopping in France).

We arrived in lots of time and found our plane will be leave 4.5 hours late. Oy. But at least it is leaving. It will make for a tight connection to the Eurostar train to France, but we'll just have to be flexible and adjust as we see what happens. British Air kindly gave us some vouchers for food, so we had a nice late lunch with my parents and said goodbye.

The line for security was fairly short, and, as we were taking off five sets of shoes, folding down the stroller, fishing out the liquids, I realized our lively family was in the "Expert single traveler" security lane. Oops. So I just want to apologize to the universe and the travlers behind us for that. It was an accident -- and we hope we didn't make you late. John pointed out we were as fast as the expert single traveler in front of us... but still...

So now we are at the gate and ready to go. Just three more hours until we board! If we can keep the kids awake that long, there is a chance they will actually sleep on the plane tonight. That is our hope... that, and for a safe trip and not too many tricky delays tomorrow.

I'll post when I can -- not sure what that will be -- but thanks as always for keeping us in your thoughts. Bon voyage!
